Tennessee River professional guide Jimmy Mason shares thoughts on, what he calls, is the most versatile fishing line in fishing.

If you’ve been bass fishing for any length of time, Jimmy Mason’s name is likely synonomous with professionalism. The man has taken people of all ilks on the fishing trips of a lifetime. Heck, four hours before calling him today, he put his client on two personal-best bass. Mason is a bass rat and that term is used affectionately. This is how he makes a living. It’s not a joke for him.
Throughout the years, he has constantly touted the qualities of Vicious Fishing 15-pound fluorocarbon. No fancy marketing and no hyperbole. He simply uses it to support his family and encourages others to do so.
“It doesn’t matter whether I’m fishing a bladed jig, swimbait, big worm or a larger crankbait. I use this line for at least 50-percent of my fishing. It doesn’t matter if I’m using it on a guide trip to introduce someone to fishing or simply fun fishing with my family. It’s on at least half of my reels.”
As fate would have it, when we talked to Mason after a long day of guiding on the Tennessee River, he was actually spooling… wait for it… 15-pound original Vicious Fluorocarbon for an upcoming guide trip the next morning.
“I have been using this line since roughly 2009 and I’m not going to stop anytime soon,” Mason said. “There is no telling how much money I’ve made relying on this fishing line. It is so hard to find a fishing line that balances performance, strength and affordability. When you find a line that offers all of these features, you stick with it. I am a simple man and I use what works.”
